Landfill Tax rose to £48
per tonne
from April 1, 2010
under the government's continued push to reduce waste and
divert more material from landfill towards recycling and
composting.
A statement on the DEFRA website says: "For many
companies this relative change in costs could tip the balance
between recycling and landfill disposal, making recycling now the
most cost effective
option."
